ASEAN Partner Institutions on Climate Change Adaptation (ASEANadapt) was established during the “Workshop on Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in Southeast Asia”, held on 14-15 October 2015, at Hotel Jen Manila, The Philippines. The Workshop was part of the ASEAN-India Green Fund Project on “Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in Southeast Asia” (Phase 1), which was awarded to SEADPRI-UKM in 2015. [SEE PARTNER INSTITUTIONS]
The Workshop was convened by Prof. N.H. Ravindranath of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Prof. Joy Jacqueline Pereira of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Initiative (SEADPRI-UKM). Workshop participants comprised representatives of the National Focal Points of the ASEAN Working Group on Climate Change (AWGCC) and their respective Partner Institutions.
The meeting concluded with an agreement that SEADPRI-UKM will take the lead to develop the Phase 2 proposal for the ASEAN-India Green Fund in consultation with the India Coordinator and representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat. The meeting also agreed to the establishment of a virtual network of existing ASEAN Partner Institutions on Climate Change Adaptation (ASEANadapt), to continue with exchange of information on good practices and communication beyond the project. ASEANadapt website will serve in highlighting network activities and its expertise as well as the project findings.
